birdsong Academy Celebrates 20 Years of Excellence as birdsong Marks 50 Years of Musical Legacy with Closing Concert
Tunapuna, Trinidad & Tobago – August 1, 2024 – birdsong Academy is thrilled to announce its annual Music Camp Closing Concert, titled “Journey - Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence,” to be held on Saturday, 10th August 2024 at 6:30 PM at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s Rd, Port of Spain. This year’s concert is particularly significant as it not only commemorates 20 years of the Academy’s impactful work but also marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of birdsong in 1973.
Since its inception in 1973, birdsong has grown into a cornerstone of musical education in Trinidad & Tobago, with its Academy—founded in 2004—continuing this legacy by providing free instruction and instruments to over 5,000 young talents. The Academy’s mission to cultivate a lifetime of music appreciation and mastery is showcased in every performance, and this year’s concert will be a powerful testament to that mission.
The evening will feature a diverse array of performances, including choir renditions, modern instrumental works, spirited calypso classics, and timeless jazz standards. These performances will highlight the immense talent and dedication of the Academy’s students, who have worked tirelessly to bring this celebration to life.
